The following writing is a review of this week's Sunday Morning Message
An Honorable Mother
There are few words in our English vocabulary as sweet as the word mother. It is a word that brings to mind the remembrance of the warmth and security of home. I believe that there is no higher call on a woman’s life who has born children than to rear those children with the love and gentleness that God intended every mother to have. If you have been entrusted by God with a little life to raise there should be no higher personal or career opportunities that would interfere with this calling.
We find in this chapter of Proverbs that we are told of a woman often referred to as a virtuous woman. She did well in how she conducted herself with her household both as a wife and as a mother. Time would not allow us this morning to explore all the traits that she demonstrates in this chapter, but I did want to focus in on the traits demonstrated in these two verses. I believe that these traits are the key traits that made her easily honorable as a mother.
We are commanded to honor both our fathers and mothers, but there are a few things that a mother can do to make herself more easily honorable.
The virtuous woman girded herself with strength. Even so, children will admire the strength of their mother. However, if a mother is always complaining about others or situations, or upset about what they don’t have, this will not project strength to the children and it will make it harder for them to honor her because they will perceive that she is weak.
This one may seem kind of obvious, but a mother who wants to be more easily honored by her children should carry herself in a respectable manner. She should not be angry or flagrant but instead carry herself with poise and grace. Your children will notice this.
Before a mother can speak wisdom, she must have wisdom. This can only come from spending time with God. A mother’s walk with God should spill over into her children. Jesus said that, “Wisdom is justified of all her children.” (Luke 7:35) If you teach your children wisdom then you will have the joy of watching wisdom grow in their life to justify what you have taught them.
No matter how the situation is a mother should seek to always speak with kindness to her children. This means that she must overcome her own temperament and both instruct and correct her children with a tongue of kindness. She should never stoop to name calling, or degrading her children, but always with a tongue of kindness.

We had a wonderful start to our spring campaign. We had 183 in attendance with 20 visitors and 13 precious souls trusting Christ as their Saviour. I was also Mother's Day and we had a special gift for ever mother. We had twenty-eight mothers in our morning service on Sunday which is a Mother's Day record for us.
As for campaign promotions this was Baseball Card Sunday. All the children present in Sunday School this week were given a pack of random baseball cards featuring our Sunday School staff. It was wonderful to see the children goign around and having our teachers and helpers sign their cards as well as trying to barter with each other to complete their sets. Ever student who has a complete set signed by June 5th will get a special prize at the Anniversary Carnival.
