February 1, 2022 Weekly Newsletter

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at our weekly newsletter today!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,” (Galatians 5:22)

As we continue our series of articles on the fruit of the Spirit we will be looking at the second fruit of the Spirit mentioned in this verse which is joy. We have the power to have joy because we have the Spirit of God living on the inside of us. This is not to say that we are guaranteed joy as a Christian, for I have met Christian who had no joy, but that we indeed have the power to have joy.

Truly, there is nothing sadder than a child of God who has no joy. How can one receive the richest and fullest blessings of an almighty God and yet feel no joy over the matter? Yet, we are still human, and as human beings, we are prone to have fluctuations in our emotions. We may have days when we are joyful, but we will also have days when we are sad, or angry, or annoyed. It should be our goal as a Christian to be joyful an overwhelming amount of the time. Yet how can we accomplish this joyfulness for the majority of our time.

Jesus gave instructions to His followers concerning joy. “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” (John 15:11) There are five things that the Lord told us to do if our joy would be full.

#1 Abide in Christ.

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” (John 15:4)

We can experience the fullness of joy when we abide in Christ. The word abide means to dwell or rest there. We should be resting in Jesus. Such rest in Christ will indeed bring peace. Peace will bring us joy.

#2 Bear Fruit

“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

There is joy to be found in being productive for our Saviour. He sent us into His harvest to reap and when we bring forth our fruit we are told that we shall come with rejoicing bringing our sheaves with us. “He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” (Psalm 126:6)

#3 Let God’s Word Abide in You.

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” (John 15:7)

God’s Word is the bread of life for the believer. It is our spiritual nourishment. We need the Word of God to live by. “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) When we are physically well nourished there is great joy. Even so, when we are spiritually well nourished with the Word of God there will be joy as well.

#4 Continue in Christ’s Love

“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.” (John 15:9)

We should be constantly reminding ourselves of the love wherewith Christ loved us. He sacrificed Himself for our salvation. Such selflessness shown on behalf of our Saviour toward us should bring us great joy!

#5 Keep God’s Commandments

“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.” (John 15:10)

We will find joy when we keep God’s commandments. We will have a joy of a clear conscious toward our Heavenly Father. Joy springs from the freedom of a clear conscious when we know we have done what needed to be done.

Dear Christian, do you have joy. As a believer you have the power to have joy, but so many believers do not have true joy because they fail to follow the pattern that Christs sets out in the verses above. Determine that you will have the joy of Christ in your life today!

We had a wonderful week with 123 people in attendance with 5 adult visitors on Sunday Morning. We saw 11 Precious souls saved this past week with three of them attending church as visitors after having been led to Christ during our soul winning time. One of our visitors was Miss Kimberly, she trusted Christ on Saturday when Preacher witnessed to her and then rode the church van to services on Sunday. It was wonderful to have her as our guest. We had 60 people ride to church on our church busses this week. That is of course sixty precious hearts that heard the teaching of God's Word that would not have if the busses had not run. What a wonderful investment the bus ministry is to minister to our community.

While the Devil tries to push his agenda through the world's media every day, we are trying to fight back as a church. We are trying to release new media content on a daily basis in an effort to keep Christian's minds on spiritual things seven days a week. We should give our minds to God and think about Him at some point every day! As a church we are hoping to help our members be able to do so. Here are just a couple of the content matters we offer on a weekly basis.

Every Wednesday we share motivating and stirring sermons both from men of God in our day as well as men of God from the past.

Every Tuesday Pastor puts out a short podcast specifically for our teenagers in the church. He speaks on topics that are meaningful specifically to our youth challenging them to please God even at their age.

Every Friday Pastor sends out an article on a family related topic. This could be on marriage, child rearing, relationship or a whole host of other topics.
